Barry Lowman is a retired United States Army Officer with over 20 years of service. He graduated in 1979 from North Georgia College, Dahlonega, Georgia, with a B.S. Degree in Art Education. Upon graduation he was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Transportation Corps and attended the Transportation Officers Basic Course, in Fort Eustis, Va. Afterwards, he served in various leadership positions as a Platoon Leader and Executive Officer in a Medium and Heavy Boat Company, followed by Company Command in the Transportation School Brigade.
In 1984 he graduated from the Transportation Officers Advanced Course in Fort Eustis, Va., followed by an assignment to Pirmasens, West Germany as an Operations Officer, in an Ordnance Brigade, responsible for the movement of special weapons and systems in and out of the European platoon, company, Battalion, Brigade, Division, Corps, and Department of the Army level assignments at the Pentagon. His experience includes working with Personnel, transportation, Test and Evaluation, and Operations Plans and Training.
In 1990, he deployed to South West Asia for Desert Storm in support of Military Operations against a hostile force to free Kuwait. In 1994, he served in the Sinai Desert in Egypt as the Force Transportation Officer responsible for the movement of all classes of supplies to support a Multinational Peace Keeping Force. After retirement, he served in the civil sector with Alion Science and Technology, Alexandria, Va., as a Military Analyst.
Later, he served as a Logistics Officer for Kellogg’s, Brown, and Root, Houston Tx, stationed in Kosovo in support of U.S. Forces. Upon return to the United States, he served in the private business sector as a Substitute Teacher in the Utah Department of Education School System, Tooele, Utah. In 2010 Barry received his Masters Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Supply Chain Management from Strayer University. Finally, he served as a Defense Contractor for Sigmatech, as a Travel Coordinator with the Missile Defense Agency, Redstone, Arsenal, AL.
Barry resides in Madison, AL., is active in his church and Social events and does volunteer work with the Habitat for Humanity, building homes for needy families. He is married to the former Yolanda Dennis and has two daughters, Virginia and Kourtney.
Colonel (U.S. Army Retired) Yolanda C. Dennis-Lowman
Yolanda Dennis-Lowman, a retired Army Colonel who served for more than 30 years, is a native of Waco, Texas. She entered the Army in 1983 after graduating from Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, Texas where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology and was a Distinguished Military Graduate of the TCU Army ROTC program. She also holds a Masters of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University and a Masters of Science in National Security and Strategic Studies from the National War College.
During her 30 years in the Army, she commanded at every level from company to brigade and excelled in assignments in Germany, the Pentagon and a combat tour in Afghanistan, just to name a few. Her awards included the Distinguished Service Medal, the Bronze Star and the Legion of Merit.
Yolanda is married to Barry Lowman, a retired Army Major. Between the two of them, they gave more than 50 years of their life in service to our country. They have one daughter.
Yolanda is a health and fitness advocate. She leads an exercise class every Saturday morning for the ladies of her church congregation and a monthly exercise class at a local women’s shelter. Yolanda also enjoys cleaning, cooking, home decorating, reading and mentoring youth and young adults.
Yolanda is a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend who continually strives to be a positive example for all.
